moving right along

Well, the walls are up and the cabinets are almost done! As soon as it's finished, we'll haul it back home for the rest of the cleaning/priming/painting, then onto the stainless guys for the counter tops.

Since our deadline is coming up quickly, we've decided to wait to install the LED lights throughout the AS. With that in mind, the old yellowed light covers *will not* be going back up. Thankfully the AS gods have smiled upon us. Out-of-Doors Mart has the light covers on sale! I ordered three this morning. :-)

I know what you are thinking... how bad could they be? I'll let the picture speak for itself: old nasty yellow light cover and new bright white light cover side by side.

it gets worse before it gets better

We went out to see the AS while it is out having cabinets put in. The first step in this process is to gut the trailer of all the old and get it ready for the new.

Although we have done way more work to the AS than we ever thought we would, I am glad for the opportunity to clean and paint everything.

When I say clean, it's not just wipe it down and say it's good enough. I mean vacuum everything, scrub twice or three times with Krud Kutter and another couple of passes with TSP. Then prime the walls with two coats of Kilz primer. I am happy to now say thirty years of dirt, grime and general grossness is gone from our AS.

Here are before/after pictures of the cleaning and painting. Next step is putting the new walls up and putting in the new cabinets.

waiting...

The bed platform will have to wait. We had to remove the stove and send the Airstream off to the cabinet maker. It'll be a few weeks before we get it back. I can't wait! *g*
